25.09.15 Monica Rohan Video Interview for QAGOMA

Monica Rohan is featured in a short video interview by QAGOMA, in which she discusses her painting practice and involvement in GoMA Q: Queensland Contemporary Art.

The exhibition is the first time QAGOMA have curated an exhibition of solely Queensland artists and showcases the talents of emerging, mid-career and established artists working across a range of artistic approaches.

GoMA Q: Queensland Contemporary Art concludes 11 October 2015.

23.09.15 Linde Ivimey – Cross My Heart

Carrie McCarthy from Cultural Flanerie has reviewed Linde Ivimey’s current Jan Murphy Gallery solo exhibition, Cross My Heart. Running until 3 October 2015, the new exhibition consists of eleven exquisite hand-crafted sculptures exploring themes of identity and self using a vast range of materials and techniques.

18.09.15 Natasha Bieniek – Winner 2015 Portia Geach Memorial Award

Natasha Bieniek has been named as the winner of the 2015 Portia Geach Memorial Award for her miniature oil painting Sahara 2014. Presented at S.H. Ervin Gallery in Sydney, the non-acquisitive award of $30,000 is in it’s 50th year and recognises excellence by Australian women artists in contemporary portraiture.

This year’s judges were Eleonora Trigunboff, Art Publisher and Trustee of the Art Gallery of New South Wales,  Samantha Meers, Trustee of the Art Gallery of New South Wales, and Jane Watters, Director of S.H. Ervin Gallery.

14.09.15 Robert Malherbe – Winner 2015 Manning Art Prize: Naked & Nude

Robert Malherbe has been named as the winner of the 2015 Manning Art Prize: Naked & Nude for his oil painting Woman in a Black Coat 2015.

The $10,000 acquisitive prize was judged and awarded for 2015 by Sydney Morning Herald Art Critic, John McDonald.

An exhibition of award winners and finalists will run at the Manning Regional Art Gallery until 25 October.

10.09.15 Sydney Contemporary Art Fair 2015

Jan Murphy Gallery is currently exhibiting new work by Ben Quilty at the 2015 Sydney Contemporary Art Fair.

From 10 – 13 September at Carriageworks the fair provides an opportunity to see the best of contemporary Australasian art under one roof.
