27.10.18 Lucy Culliton in 2018 Shirley Hannan National Portrait Award

Lucy Culliton is a finalist in the 2018 Shirley Hannan National Portrait Award at Bega Valley Regional Gallery.

Lucy was selected as one of 35 finalists for her portrait of her partner, Jamie. Held biennially, the Shirley Hannan National Portrait Award offers a $50,000 non-acquisitive prize. The 2018 guest judge is art critic and broadcaster, Dr Andrew Frost, with the winner to be announced at the exhibition launch on Friday 26 October 2018.

26.10.18 People’s Choice Winner – Sunshine Coast Art Prize 2018

A.J. Taylor is the winner of the People’s Choice Prize for the Sunshine Coast Art Prize 2018 at the Caloundra Regional Gallery.

The non-acquisitive $2,500 prize was awarded to Taylor for his work, Sapling forest (morning light) 2018.

26.10.18 Flack Studio Collaboration for Rigg Design Prize 2018

John Nicholson has collaborated with Flack Studio for the Rigg Design Prize 2018 at the Ian Potter Centre: NGV Australia. The triennial prize is awarded to an Australian design practice displaying outstanding creative achievements in contemporary design.

Finalists were invited to design a purpose built interior for the prize exhibition, responding to the theme of Domestic Living. Nicholson collaborated with Flack Studio to create their interior titled, We’ve boundless plains to share 2018.

Jason Benjamin, Guy Maestri and Michael Muir are in Mirror Mirror: Portraits from the collection at Macquarie University Art Gallery in northern Sydney.

The exhibition features portraits from the Macquarie University Art Collection of faces both familiar and unfamiliar. Other featured artists include John Brack, Russell Drysdale, Margaret Olley and Judy Watson.
