16.02.19 Lara Merrett at UQ Art Museum

Lara Merrett has been commissioned by UQ Art Museum to produce High Stakes, a two-part project beginning with a temporary outdoor studio residency and culminating with a large installation inside the Museum.

In the first part of the project, Lara will host the interactive outdoor studio onsite at UQ Art Museum, encouraging student engagement and providing a unique opportunity for audiences to observe the artist at work.

Several works by Robert Malherbe and Ben Quilty are included in group exhibition, I Heart Paint, at Bega Valley Regional Gallery. Featuring six Australian artists, the exhibition focuses on a selection of important painters.

Robert and Ben will each present solo exhibitions at Jan Murphy Gallery in 2019.

23.02.19 Ben Quilty Feature in the Good Weekend

A major article on Ben Quilty is featured in the latest Good Weekend magazine in The Sydney Morning Herald.

Journalist, Brook Turner, sheds light on the life, career and recent obstacles faced by the artist. It also offers a fascinating perspective of his current exhibition, The Accident, which opened recently at Jan Murphy Gallery.

Quilty, a major retrospective exhibition, will soon open at the Art Gallery of South Australia, and the article provides a deeper insight into the artist’s motivations and evolving practice as he reaches this significant point in his career.

The Accident, is on display at Jan Murphy Gallery until Saturday 16 March and Quilty opens at the Art Gallery of South Australia Saturday 2 March (then tours to state galleries in Brisbane and Sydney).

A major publication on Ben Quilty has been released by Penguin Random House Australia to coincide with a retrospective of his work at the Art Gallery of South Australia (then touring to QAGOMA and the Art Gallery of New South Wales),

Titled, Ben Quilty, the publication documents the artist’s career to date and includes work from his early career through to his more recent projects. Featuring a forward by acclaimed writer and friend to the artist, Richard Flanagan, as well as texts by Lisa Slade, Vincent Namatjira, Justin Paton and Frank Young.
