‘Weapons for the soldier’ at Hazelhurst Arts Centre

Danie Mellor and Ben Quilty feature in major collaborative exhibition, Weapons for the soldier, at Hazelhurst Arts Centre.

Conceptualised by the young men of the APY Lands in north-western South Australia (Vincent Namatjira, Aaron Ken, Derek Thompson, Anwar Young and Kamurin Young), Weapons for the soldier brings together both Indigenous and non-Indigenous Australian artists in exploring themes of weaponry, warfare, and protecting land and Country.

The official opening of the exhibition on Sunday 11 November 2018 also marks the 100th anniversary of the Armistice that ended the First World War.
