‘Romancing the Skull’ at Art Gallery of Ballarat

Romancing the Skull is a major group exhibition at the Art Gallery of Ballarat. Examining the continued symbolic depiction of the skull in art, this exhibition considers the ranging themes of mortality, piracy and rebellion.

Featuring work by leading Australian contemporary artists alongside a number of international artists, ‘Romancing the Skull’ also explores the culturally specific use of skull imagery. Included in the exhibition are works by Julia deVille, Danie Mellor, Adam Pyett, Ben Quilty, Leslie Rice & Heidi Yardley.
