Natasha Bieniek in ‘Garden Variety’ at Manly Art Gallery

Visitors to Manly Art Museum and Gallery this summer can see work by Natasha Bieniek (and Lucy Culliton) in ‘Garden Variety’. On display in this exhibition is Natasha’s 2022 work, ‘A stone’s throw’.

“My paintings mostly feature inner-city gardens that coexist with major cities. These green spaces are like living, breathing artworks that are constantly changing and evolving over time. I’ve been drawn to this subject-matter for many years for its information-rich, diverse and sensory-pleasing quality. But beyond mere aesthetics, these lush landscapes hold much greater importance. They are imperative to our physical and mental well-being and offer respite from the daily rituals of our busy, work-oriented lives.” Natasha Bieniek, 2023

Each of the artists featured in this exhibition are known for their distinct use of horticultural motifs and garden-associated subject matter in their work, alluding to a range of different meanings and narratives.
