Drew Connor Holland in ‘New Religion’ at Ngununggula

Drew Connor Holland is featured in the new group exhibition, New Religion, opening today at Ngununggula.

Bringing together contemporary artworks and historical objects, New Religion explores the enduring power of images, asking why certain symbols, rituals and systems of belief continue to shape the way we see the world.

Drew is one of eight contemporary artists commissioned by Ngununggula to create a new body of work for the exhibition, presented alongside significant loans from major public collections. His installation explores the emotional and symbolic authority projected onto objects through narrative, ritual and collective belief. Among the works is a cast of his mother’s face, made when she was a young woman and reimagined by the artist as a precious relic.
