Ben Quilty and Margaret Olley Exhibitions at QAGOMA

In the lead up to the opening of Quilty in Brisbane, Ben Quilty has been busy sketching large-scale drawings on the walls of GOMA in tribute to his friend and mentor – Margaret Olley. The artist has been using a series of vessels including jugs and teapots that have been cast in chalk, to create the large wall drawings. These vessels were cast from objects given to Quilty by Margaret Olley.

Ben Quilty’s major survey exhibition, Quilty, will open alongside, A Generous Life, an exhibition of 100 paintings by Margaret Olley later this month at QAGOMA.

ABC News journalist, Lisa Millar, spoke with Quilty whilst he was working on the installation of his much anticipated survey show in Brisbane.
