Ben Quilty features as one of more than 100 artists from 32 countries for the inaugural NGV Triennial, which surveys the world’s best art and design, across cultures, scales, geographies and perspectives.
Quilty’s featured work will be High Tide Mark 2016, a recent acquisition for the NGV collection. The painting depicts a single life vest, rendered in a vibrant palette of lush orange and red paint. The work was produced in 2016, when Quilty was invited by World Vision Australia to travel to Greece, Serbia and Lebanon with author Richard Flanagan to witness firsthand the global refugee crisis.
