We are excited to announce the major new exhibition ‘Ben Quilty : The Unimpressionist’ will open at the National Gallery of Victoria in March 2027.
Over the past two decades, Ben Quilty’s practice has challenged assumptions and conventions of Australian landscape and figurative painting. In this world premiere exhibition, he explores the legacy of Australian Impressionism, looking beneath the beauty of these landscapes to the stories of cultural erasure, environmental decay, and loss.
The exhibition will give visitors the chance to see over 80 new and recent works by Quilty including a new ambitious seven meter landscape and Ford Mustang car-turned-sculpture.
