Work by Betty Muffler is presented in ‘Like a Wheel That Turns: The 2022 Macfarlane Commissions’ at the Australian Centre for Contemporary Art. Established in 2017, this year marks the third edition of this multi-year partnership to commission and support new projects by contemporary emerging – mid-career artists. Betty Muffler is among 7 other artists working in the realm of painting, who have been selected to create new work. Writer Nick Miller has published an article on the 2022 Macfarlane Commissions which has been featured in The Age (3 July, 2022). Discussing Betty Muffler’s artwork, Max Delaney (Director of ACCA), notes that Muffler’s work is the largest painting she has ever produced.
Betty Muffler will also present a new body of work in ‘Mara Ala – Open Hands’ alongside Iluwanti Ken at Jan Murphy Gallery, opening 12 July. Also included in this exhibition is a series of collaborative works by Muffler and Ken.
