A new exhibition by Gerwyn Davies, Shimmer, has now opened at Museum of Brisbane. Presented in conjunction with Brisbane Powerhouse’s Melt Festival, this new body of work was developed during a residency in which the artist collaborated with 12 gender diverse young people from Open Doors Youth Service. Taking inspiration from the artist’s self-portraits, these images were developed over a series of workshops and depict their subjects in their own handcrafted costumes, striking powerful and expressive poses. The wearers are anonymous yet demand to be seen.
During Melt Festival, images from ‘Shimmer’ will also be on city-wide display across a variety of public venues including Fish Lane, Princess Theatre, Anne St Windows/The Beat and many more. For more information, click here.
