Jacqueline Hennessy has been commended with the People’s Choice Award in the 2026 Salon des Refusés. Established in 1992, the Salon des Refusés exhibition is the ‘alternative selection’ to the Archibald Prize and has become a much anticipated yearly show in its own right. Hennessy’s portrait is of fellow artist, Eliza Gosse, and says, “I came to know painter Eliza Gosse during our studies at the National Art School and have long admired her practice. This portrait, rendered in a restrained sepia palette, draws on the language of photography while quietly unsettling its claim to fully capture the subject.” – Jacqueline Hennessy, 2026
