Congratulations to Victoria Reichelt who has been announced as a finalist in the Portia Geach Memorial Award 2019 with her work, ‘La Mere (after Elizabeth Nourse)’. This award is arguably Australia’s most prestigious prize for portraiture by women artists.
Victoria Reichelt describes the motivation behind her entry, “I am aiming to depict my everyday, by creating an honest portrait of the life of a contemporary artist who is also a mother, a situation which often demands late night work in the studio after a day of taking care of children.”
The artist will also present new work alongside fellow artist Natasha Bieniek in an exhibition at Jan Murphy Gallery in November this year.
