Victoria Reichelt in the R & M McGivern Prize

Congratulations to Victoria Reichelt who has been selected as a finalist in the 2019 R & M McGivern Prize with her work, Plastic Horror 2. Held every three years, the R & M McGivern Prize is a painting award that invites artists to respond to a theme. The 2019 theme is ‘Anthropocene’, which describes an era proposed by scientists that dates from the commencement of significant human impact on the Earth’s geology and ecosystems. As described by the artist, Reichelt’s Plastic Horror 2 features “..a mountain of plastic cups, the work highlights the omnipresence of these destructive objects, which seem to multiply before our eyes.”

The winner of the $25,000 R & M McGivern Prize will be announced 28 November.
